Cuba: the Accidental Eden Since 1998 Fernando Bretos has worked in Cuba where he has collaborated on major marine expeditions, coral reef health assessments, and a unique project with the University of Havana to protect Cuba's sea turtle populations. Bretos will share stories from his thirteen year effort in Cuba to study the marine resources shared between the U.S. and Cuba, particularly sea turtles and coral reefs. He will screen a short film by the PBS Nature television program that features his work in Cuba, and discuss why collaboration between the American and Cuban marine science communities is important to understanding our own marine and coastal natural resources.
