Difference between 'BA English' and 'BA English Lang and Lit'?

Some Universities have called the course 'BA English', some 'BA English Lang and Lit'... They both have diff course codes, is this just because the second is a joint honours? Or is 'BA English' looking at different things to 'BA English Language and Literature'? ie the content? Thanks...

Sixth form got a D in IGCSE English

Hey guys I'm an international student, I did IGCSE English last year and I got a D which is not great, but I got a B in IGCSE ESL and a 6.5 in Ielts. Can I still get into good universities? Because most of them accept ielts6.5, but they still require you a C or above in English language, so it's kind of confusing.
